Dear Friend of HOPE 4 Youth,
As you know, youth homelessness is a growing problem in our community. Many young people are facing unstable housing situations leaving them vulnerable to a range of challenges such as housing instability, food insecurity, mental illness, substance use disorder, and so much more. At HOPE 4 Youth, we are dedicated to providing the support and resources to help youth overcome these obstacles and build a stable foundation.
According to our year end results, 22% of the youth who come through our doors are parenting their own children. These young parents are not only struggling to find stable housing for themselves but also for their little ones. It is heartbreaking to see these young families facing such adversity and is one of the reasons why we need your help.
Youth homelessness is unacceptable. No young person should have to worry about where they will sleep at night or if they have enough to eat. We believe every young person deserves a safe and stable place where they can thrive and experience HOPE! Your donation allows HOPE 4 Youth to continue to provide youth with the resources and support they need to secure safe and affordable housing like Sage and Tamara.
Sage’s Journey:
Sage came to HOPE 4 Youth after learning she was pregnant with her second child. She tried to move back in with her family, but they couldn't provide shelter because they had seven people living in a two-bedroom apartment. Sage was couch hopping and moving in and out of shelters for the first few weeks while working with HOPE 4 Youth. During that time she became engaged with an Anoka County Job Coach who helped her find a job she enjoyed. Sage's job helped her become financially stable and was able to support her through her pregnancy. Sage applied for countless apartments within her budget, but wasn't having luck finding available ones. After several weeks, she found an apartment to call home. HOPE 4 Youth helped with her deposit and first month’s rent, and she has remained housed since last October! Sage’s baby was born in April and both are doing well! Sage was so thankful to have found a safe place to live and continues to remain housed and employed!
Tamara’s Journey:
A young mother, Tamara, came to the Drop-In Center in June to receive HOPE 4 Youth services. She was kicked out of her home by her mother when she became pregnant. Despite this obstacle, she was able to acquire her CNA certificate and worked through her pregnancy to secure an apartment for herself and her child. Unfortunately, the neighborhood was not safe, so she left. After couch-hopping for several months, she found another apartment that was in her budget and family-friendly. HOPE 4 Youth was able to assist her with the deposit and first months rent so she could move-in and continue working as a CNA. Tamara is so thankful for the help from the Housing Stability Program to keep her and her child safe and housed!
These are examples of real-life journeys where youth have found HOPE. Please consider making a donation to HOPE 4 Youth today. Your generosity will directly impact the lives of young people, giving them the chance to break the cycle of homelessness and build a better future. Together, we can make a difference and create a world where no young person has to face homelessness. Thank you for your compassion and support.
